The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

Since leaving my hometown of Kulpmont (PA), and graduating from Penn State (BS'63 Home Economics Journalism & Broadcasting), and Cornell University (MS'68 Textiles & Clothing major, Statistics minor), I've lived in five states: PA, NY, IL, MI and, for the last 31 years, Brookfield WI, a Milwaukee suburb. We moved here when my husband, Bernard Sandler (Cornell PhD '71 physics), joined GE Medical Systems CAT scan business. Our sons, Daniel (computer systems engineer) & David (aerospace engineer) live in Phoenix, and Los Angeles, respectively. Professionally, I've been a Cooperative Extension Service Home Economist & 4-H Club Agent in McKean County PA and DuPage County IL; a Consumer Education Specialist at Cornell University (research & author of Cornell Consumer Reports), instructor at Mansfield (PA) State University (textiles & clothing and housing & home furnishings); and, in the business sector, a consultant & marketing researcher in color & design trends for the home. Recently, I've also logged 12 years as an in-home caregiver for our moms. Presently, I'm a Certified Wisconsin State Fair Judge and also an exhibiting handweaver and publicity chair with Wisconsin Handweavers, Inc. My husband & I enjoy alumni activities with the Penn State WI Alumni Chapter and the Cornell Club of Wisconsin (past president & current chair of the annual Faculty Speaker Banquet).
